Tangled Blessings

Third-Party Tabletop Module License 1.0

Mothwin Productions, LLC (“Cassi Mothwin”) has created the Tangled Blessings tabletop role playing game, first edition (published in 2023) (“Tangled Blessings”). Subject to the terms of this license agreement, you may create your own tabletop role playing game Projects that are compatible with Tangled Blessings. A Project is defined as a publication that includes adventures, setting material, new prompts, or rule additions, and may require the Tangled Blessings core game to be used. Requiring the Tangled Blessings core game for your project is not a requirement of this license. By creating such a Project, you agree to these terms.

1.                LICENSE. Cassi Mothwin hereby grants you a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive right to create, sell, publish, and distribute tabletop role playing game Projects that are explicitly compatible with Tangled Blessings (your “Project”), in printed form, as a PDF, or as a virtual tabletop module (“VTT”). VTTs do not include NFTs, Chatbots, AI, or video games, only virtual tabletop modules. This agreement applies only to English language Projects based on the first edition of Tangled Blessings. Projects in any other language or based on any future editions are subject to separate licensing requirements. So long as you comply with the terms of this agreement, this license is irrevocable. If you breach the terms of this agreement, this license terminates automatically.

2.                SCOPE OF LICENSE. This agreement permits you to create a Project based on the Tangled Blessings rules, but not to include a copy of those rules or the original prompts in your Project. You may reference the Tangled Blessings rules, including using terminology, the names of creatures, and locations from Tangled Blessings in your Project, so long as you do not use them in your title (subtitle is fine). This agreement also permits you to include page references to official Tangled Blessings publications in your Project. You may explicitly state that your publication is a third-party Project for Tangled Blessings, for example on the cover, on ecommerce platforms, and in promotions.

3.                LOGO. You may not use the Tangled Blessings wordmark (title text) alone. You may only use the wordmark when it is rendered in the icons located here. Use of the icons is not required for your project.

4.                RULE MODIFICATIONS. The purpose of this license is to encourage third party publications compatible with the Tangled Blessings core game and with each other. You may include additions to the Tangled Blessings rules in your Project, but please be explicit that you are changing/adjusting rules so it’s clear to the players where changes occur.

5.                EXCLUSIONS. Except as expressly permitted herein, you may not use any Tangled Blessings text, artwork, or trade dress, any other artwork, text, or other materials created or owned by Cassi Mothwin. You also may not use any of Cassi Mothwin’s brands or logos, except as set forth in section 3.

6.                OWNERSHIP OF TANGLED BLESSINGS. You agree that Mothwin owns all rights in Tangled Blessings (except those mechanics covered by the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) originally appearing in Anamnesis) and that you will not contest those rights. Mothwin expressly reserves all rights not expressly granted in this agreement.

7.                OWNERSHIP OF YOUR PROJECT. You own all rights in any Project you create under this agreement. Mothwin may not copy or use your Project without your permission. But you acknowledge that Cassi Mothwin may independently create something like your Project and that she is not prohibited from doing so unless she knowingly and intentionally copied your original work. Please email cassi@mothwin.com to discuss any duplicate content concerns between you and her.

8.                NOTICE. You must include a notice on your Project, or any website or advertising material associated there-with, that states that your Project is not sponsored or endorsed by Cassi Mothwin and that you are using Tangled Blessings under license. I recommend, “This is an independent project not affiliated with Cassi Mothwin, creator of Tangled Blessings, or Sam Leigh, creator of Anamnesis (the system on which Tangled Blessings is based), and this project was created under Cassi Mothwin’s Tangled Blessings Third Party License.”

9.                RESTRICTIONS. Except as expressly permitted in this agreement, you may not state or imply that Mothwin endorses, sponsors, or is affiliated with your Project. If Mothwin promotes your project on social media platforms with custom text (reposts of your original posts without new commentary or text are not included) you may use her quotes or screenshot her posts about your project as endorsements. You may email Cassi Mothwin at cassi@mothwin.com to confirm her endorsement and your use of it.

10.             REPRESENTATIONS. You represent and warrant that you have the capacity to enter into this agreement, that your Project does not violate or infringe the rights of any third party, that your project does not use AI-generated text or images, and that your Project complies with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations in every jurisdiction in which it is distributed.

11.             Cassi Mothwin has no liability for your use of Tangled Blessings, and, in addition, you expressly waive any claim for any indirect, punitive, special, exemplary, incidental, or consequential damages.

12.             MISCELLANEOUS. This is the entire agreement of the parties relating to the subject matter hereof and you agree that you have not relied on any terms or representations other than those expressly stated herein. Cassi Mothwin may update this agreement at their sole discretion, but you will continue to have the right to use Tangled Blessings under the terms of this agreement or any subsequently published version of this agreement at your sole discretion. No joint venture, partnership, employment, or agency relationship exists between you and Cassi Mothwin as a result of this agreement. Cassi Mothwin’s failure to exercise any right or provision in this agreement shall not constitute a waiver unless expressly acknowledged and agreed to by Cassi Mothwin in writing.
